Cut-offs revised for IIT admissions:

HYDERABAD: Only those students who are among the top 20 percentilers in the Intermediate Public Examination (IPE) while considering all the subjects would be eligible to take admission in the IITs in the country this year. This means that a general category student would have to score 437 marks or above out of 530 to become eligible.

 Earlier, the top 20 percentile criteria took into account only the marks scored in Maths, Physics and Chemistry. But the authorities have decided to take into account all the subjects now. Following this, sources in the Board of Intermediate Education detailed the cut-off marks for students of different categories. While it would be 457 for general category students, it would be 428, 387 and 396 for OBC, SC and ST candidates respectively.

In percentile scores, general category students, who get 79.63 percentile, will qualify for admissions. Percentiles required for other categories are 79.607 for SCs, 79.55 for STs, 79.69 for OBC and 79.68 for differently-abled category. A total of 1.5 lakh candidates had written the JEE-Advanced examination on June 2.

Sources from the secondary education department said that officials calculated the top 20 percentile as several requests were coming from parents and students asking for the same. "The document is, however, not final as the actual calculations are to be done by IIT-Kanpur which is in charge of conducting the examination. IIT-Kanpur will announce the results," an official said.

The rule under which intermediate marks are taken into account while fixing the eligibility criteria for students was introduced this year. Till last year, only performance of candidates in the competitive examination (JEE) was considered.

IIT-JEE (advanced) exam 2013: Result expected on June 23:

The results of IIT-JEE (advanced) exam 2013 will be declared on June 23. Candidates can check results here. Now the IIT aspirants will need to score 30 per cent more to get admission to the institute. The cut-off marks for admissions to Indian Institutes of Technology have been increased due to the top-20 percentile norm introduced by the Centre. The 50% of Boards marks will be normalized by equating percentile amongst different boards/examining bodies and anchoring them to All India JEE Main percentiles, and 50% be normalized by equating each Board’s/examining Body’s percentile with JEE(Main) percentile marks of respective Boards /examining bodies. There are five subjects which will be used for normalization. The subjects to be considered for normalization include- Physics, Mathematics, any one of the subjects from Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology and Computer Science, One language and any subject other than the above four subjects. IIT- JEE 2013: ISC students need to score 83.8:

ISC students who have scored at least 83.8% are eligible for an IIT seat. The students will be required to clear both the main and advanced levels of Joint Entrance Exam (JEE). JEE Advanced was conducted by the Joint Admission Board (JAB) for admission to IITs on June 2 across India.  Around 1.5 lakh selected candidates were appeared in JEE Advanced 2013. According to the students appeared for the exam, JEE Advanced was tougher than expected. Students found mathematics section lengthy and tricky. However, Physics and Chemistry seemed to be relatively simpler.  JEE Advanced’s new method negative marking scheme and format surprised students. Certain questions had negative marking and others did not. In both the papers, equal weightage were given to the three sections- Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.  A student could score a maximum of 60 in each subject in each paper. Thus, the total credits for either of the papers were 180. Both three-hour papers totalled 360 marks, lower than previous years when the total was above 400. The original cut off marks will be published after declaring JEE Advanced 2013 Result. The results of the JEE Advanced 2013 are expected to be declared on June 23, 2013. EAMCET results 2013 declared:

The results of Andhra Pradesh Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test (EAMCET )results have been declared. Counselling will be done on June 6 and June 7. Students are requested not to be stressed while checking the results. EAMCET (Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test) was held on May 10, 2013. Candidates can check results here EAMCET engineering exam (E) was held from 10 am to 1 pm while EAMCET Agriculture and Medical exam (AM) was held from 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm on the same day. EAMCET is conducted by JNT University Hyderabad on behalf of APSCHE. This examination is the prerequisite for admission into various professional courses offered in University / Private Colleges in the state of Andhra Pradesh. About 4 lakh students  appeared for the exam. EAMCET 2013 will be held on May 10. EAMCET 2013 ranks will be calculated with 25 per cent weightage of marks secured in the Intermediate Examinations and not the advanced supplementary exams. JEE: Cut offs for top 20 percentile students announced:

New Delhi: IIT aspirants who have scored over 78.2 per cent marks in their class XII CBSE exam this year and have made it to the final round of the JEE examination stand a chance of being selected to the prestigious institutes.

According to CBSE, the cut off score for the top 20 percentile for the general stream has been put at 391 (78.2 per cent).

Rank holders in the JEE advance test under the new two-tier format for admission to the under-graduate programme in the IITs must be among the top 20 performers for admission.

For OBC, the cut off will be 389, SC 350 and for ST 338, a CBSE statement said after the results of class XII was declared on Monday.

The class X results are likely to be declared on May 30.

JEE advance test will be conducted on coming Sunday and students who have made it to this final round of examination but do not find them within the cut-off need not lose heart and should consider the exam as a "good exposure", said a CBSE official.

The new format adopted by the IIT council comprises a two-tier system -- a main and an advance test.

Students clearing the advance test after being screened in the Mains would be considered for admission provided they are among the top 20 percentile in their boards. The mains were held on April 7.

The logistics for both the exam will be conducted by CBSE. The advance exam will be solely conducted by the IIT.

IIT will prepare a merit list of those who sat for the advance and then select the successful candidates if they are among the top 20 percentile.
