You need to make sure that you score well for your Class 11 as well as your Class 12 board exams. You need to be mentally prepared. 1. Solve between 60-80 questions from the day you start preparing This number includes all sections - Set realistic targets and plan the next day’s work in advance - If you can do 100 problems, don’t set the target to 150 2. Set a time limit when you attempt questions Speed is important in doing well in JEE. Make sure your score improves with time 3. Solve past year papers for at least 10 years Do this in addition to the 60-80 questions that you have done for each day. - Look for changes in the number of questions from areas and the pattern 4. Find short-cuts You will find shorter ways of solving problems using logic as you solve more problems - Develop a separate technique to handle all three subjects - Spend more time on subjects that you are not that strong in 5. Keep up to date with changes for JEE (Mains) and Advanced It’s important that you keep up to date with any changes. Your board exam is now important for JEE. Only students who are in the top 20 percentile of their boards qualify for JEE (Advanced).

IIT Delhi brightens up south Delhi slum

IIT Delhi brightens up south Delhi slum:

The students of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Delhi will take up the task of illuminating the slums in Munirka, south Delhi through a solar lighting project, an official statement said.

IIT-Delhi is working on the project in collaboration with My Sister Foundation of India, a non-governmental organisation (NGO).

The project titled "Liter of Light" has already provided 55W light to three households in the slums.

"The plastic coke and water bottles are filled with water and suspended from the roof of the house. With the simple concept of refraction of light from denser to rarer medium, the light is generated through the light from the sun," Revant Soni, a student working on the project told IANS.

In the slums, shanties are so close to each other that hardly any sunlight reaches there forcing dwellers to keep the lights on even in daytime.

With these bottles, it helps cut down a lot on the electricity consumption.

The project has been put into implementation following the research undertaken for three months.

"The first three installations were done by the students but now we have explained the procedure of installation to the community members and they would be completing the project," added Soni.

Around 25 students, including volunteers of IIT-Delhi, have worked for the development of the project.

Three students of IIT-Madras have received 92 lakh packages from Google. Students who have received the offer are from the Computer science background. The students who received the offer are Guru Prakash, Santhosh Kumar N.and Kavin Karthik. The three students were selected by Google to intern with the company for three months in Bangalore. After completion of their projects, they were interviewed.  The students stated that the work culture of Google is the best thing and are ecstatic to join the company. Another student Himanshu Jindal a computer engineering student of Delhi Technological University (DTU) has been offered a package of Rs 93 lakh and 125 stock units by Google, USA. IIT Council: JEE (Mains) to be held once a year

IIT Council: JEE (Mains) to be held once a year:

IIT council has announced that the JEE (Mains) will only be held once a year. CBSE had the proposed that there should be two main JEE examinations.

The CBSE board had suggested that there would two main JEE examinations for IIT-JEE 2014.

The exam was to be held in February and April. The decision has been taken keeping in mind the stress caused to students.

The tentative date for the JEE(Mains) written exam in 2014 is April 6. The JEE Mains will be conducted online on dates between April 8 and April 28.

IIT-JEE advanced 2014 aspirants will now have to give the entrance exam only in paper pen format. There will be no computer based JEE-advanced 2014.
